The Florida Division of Elections reported that nearly four million ballots have been cast in the upcoming midterm election. This figure covers votes submitted by mail and at in-person early voting sites. The data reflects activity through Thursday.

The totals show a slight advantage for registered Republicans. Approximately 1.57 million Republicans have cast ballots. More than 1.51 million Democrats have also voted. Voters registered as no party affiliation submitted more than 700,000 ballots. Individuals registered with minor parties accounted for 96,000 votes.

Among the state's 13.7 million registered voters, Republicans hold a lead of 1.5 million over Democrats. The breakdown between in-person and mail-in votes reveals distinct trends. As of Thursday morning, 972,000 Republicans voted in person compared to 788,000 Democrats. Conversely, Democrats led in vote-by-mail ballots with 727,000 submissions against 594,000 from Republicans.

These current numbers differ from the 2022 midterm election results. That cycle drew 7.8 million total voters, representing 53.8 percent of registered citizens. In 2022, Republicans cast nearly 1.17 million early votes, a margin of almost 500,000 over Democrats. However, Democrats outpaced Republicans in mail-in voting that year, submitting 1.2 million ballots compared to about 1 million from Republicans.

Mandatory early voting concludes Saturday for most of the state. Sixteen counties will extend in-person voting through Sunday. These counties include Alachua, Bradford, Gadsden, Hillsborough, Jefferson, Leon, Manatee, Miami-Dade, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pinellas, Sarasota, Seminole, Duval, and Levy.

The general election will take place on Tuesday. Voters in these sixteen counties have an additional day to cast ballots in person before the polls close.
