Republican Blaise Ingoglia has won the election for Florida’s chief financial officer, securing a full term in the office he has held for the past year. He defeated Democratic opponent Annette Taddeo in a contest that resulted in a margin of victory of roughly two percentage points.
Ingoglia originally assumed the role after Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed him last year. That appointment followed the departure of former CFO Jimmy Patronis, who left the position to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives. Before entering the cabinet, Ingoglia founded Hartland Homes, a residential construction firm. He previously served as a Republican state legislator and chaired the Republican Party of Florida from 2015 to 2019.
The office of the chief financial officer is a cabinet position within the executive branch. It manages the state’s finances, regulates the insurance industry, and enforces fire safety standards. Ingoglia’s campaign emphasized his performance during his first year in the role. The campaign website stated that he arrested thousands of criminals, exposed billions of dollars in waste, and returned a record $847 million to Floridians through fines and lawsuits against insurance companies.
During his tenure, Ingoglia has focused on local government spending. He has argued that many localities overspend and can absorb revenue losses, positioning himself as a strong advocate for property tax reductions. Ingoglia also maintains a career as an internationally ranked poker player.
As a cabinet member, Ingoglia participates in the executive branch governing body that makes major policy decisions for the state. His victory concludes the race for one of Florida’s key financial leadership roles.
