A Warren middle school student is recovering from a serious bicycle crash after receiving a package of Detroit Lions memorabilia and a phone call from a team star. Trevor Travier, a seventh grader at Lincoln Middle School, was struck by a pickup truck on October 15. The vehicle dragged him before coming to a stop. Police transported Travier to a local hospital before he was airlifted to Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor. He has undergone several surgeries and expects to have more in the future. Doctors say he will make a full recovery, though the process is long.
Adnan Durrani, a 28-year-old veteran and school resource officer at Lincoln Middle School, learned of Travier's condition. Durrani contacted the Detroit Lions to see if the team could send a gift to lift the student's spirits. The franchise responded with a gift package containing a Jameson Williams jersey, two Lions hats, and a miniature helmet. The package also included a bobblehead of wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. Travier also received a personal phone call from Williams.
Warren Police Commissioner Eric Hawkins praised the officer's initiative in a statement. He said Durrani shows the genuine care and personal connection officers develop with the community. Hawkins thanked the Detroit Lions and Jameson Williams for their generosity in helping lift Travier's spirits. He also acknowledged the medical team guiding the student through his recovery.
The incident occurred near the intersection of Van Dyke and 9 Mile. The truck driver continued driving for a distance after the collision, dragging Travier along. The Warren Police Department identified the officer as the point of contact for the Lions outreach. Travier remains a patient at the hospital in Ann Arbor. His recovery plan includes additional surgical procedures. The gift package arrived at the hospital to accompany him during his stay.
Durrani works as a resource officer at the school where Travier is enrolled. The police department noted that the officer's actions reflect the values of the department. The Lions provided the specific items listed in the gift package. Williams made the call to Travier directly. The student continues his treatment at Children's Hospital. The timeline for his full recovery has not been specified beyond the need for multiple surgeries. The Warren Police Department cited the department's statement as the source for details regarding the gift and the officer's role.
