Top-10 teams have now lost 11 games across the past three weeks of the college football season, tying the record for losses in any three-week span during the regular season of the AP Poll, according to ESPN Research. The last time that count reached 11 was 2007.

Week 8 delivered the latest run of ranked losses. South Carolina beat Tennessee in a comeback behind LaNorris Sellers, Cincinnati handled Texas Tech, and USC managed seven points against Wisconsin coming off a bye week. BYU, which reached No. 2 in the AP Poll after beating Notre Dame, lost in double overtime at UCF.

Miami held the top spot in the Power Rankings after beating Pitt 52-23. Malachi Toney set a school record with 16 catches for 194 yards. Pitt recorded three sacks and threw for 334 yards against the Hurricanes' secondary. Ohio State dropped from third to second while adjusting to life without quarterback Julian Sayin, who is out indefinitely with an elbow injury. Freshman Luke Fahey and Tavien St. Clair have taken snaps in his absence.

Georgia fell to fourth following a 27-24 home loss to Auburn on Oct. 17. The Bulldogs ran for 113 yards on 28 attempts that day. Nate Frazier returned from a rib injury, while backup Chauncey Bowens has missed the past two games with a lower-body issue. BYU slipped from second to fourth after averaging 3.2 yards per carry at UCF, with running back LJ Martin sidelined by a lower-body injury. Bear Bachmeier completed 16 of 32 passes in that game.

Indiana's defense carried a 13-6 overtime win at Michigan. The Wolverines had not lost to an AP top-10 opponent when allowing 13 or fewer points since 1985, a stretch of 14 straight games. Indiana held Michigan to 54 rushing yards on 39 carries. Hoosiers quarterback Josh Hoover threw his first interception of the season and attempted one pass in the second half; coaches considered replacing him with Grant Wilson before Hoover made two plays in overtime.

UCLA beat Michigan State 28-10 after falling behind 7-0. The Bruins rushed for 245 yards, with Jaivian Thomas, Wayne Knight and Anthony Woods each scoring, and held the Spartans to 156 total yards. It marked the fifth time this season UCLA's defense forced three turnovers. The Bruins have 22 takeaways, second most in the nation.

Kentucky beat Vanderbilt 34-17 for a sixth straight win, clinching its third winning SEC record since 1977. Kenny Minchey threw for 203 yards with two total touchdowns, and the defense limited Vanderbilt to 15 rushing yards. Utah moved to 9th at 7-0 after trailing Houston 10-0 at halftime before winning 21-13. Alabama reached its bye week at 6-2 after beating Texas A&M, though the Crimson Tide ran for 68 yards on 28 carries and played without four starters. Coach Kalen DeBoer said he hoped a lot of injured players return for the Nov. 7 trip to LSU.

LSU climbed from 18th to 12th after outscoring Mississippi State and Auburn 69-17 over two games. Sam Leavitt threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns against Auburn and ran for 54 more yards and a score. Texas moved from 22nd to 13th after building a 24-3 halftime lead against Ole Miss and holding on for the win. Arch Manning committed three turnovers in that game, including a strip sack recovered for a touchdown, and the Longhorns were penalized 14 times for 134 yards. Steve Sarkisian said he loved the way the team responded, calling Manning's play edgy.
