Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles enter Sunday Night Football with little to show for their efforts this season. The 1-4-1 Commanders host the 2-4 Eagles at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland. The game is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on Nov. 1. Both teams are looking for a spark after rough starts to the 2026 campaign.

Philadelphia enters the matchup without its starting quarterback. Jalen Hurts is out for the remainder of the season with blood clots. The Eagles also lack several key defenders and skill position players. Saquon Barkley will play despite hamstring and back issues. He returned in Week 7 but looked far from healthy. Wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks are out with hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively. Linebacker Jihaad Campbell is also missing due to a hamstring and quad issue.

The Commanders face their own defensive and offensive challenges. Coach Dan Quinn seeks a win to steady his tenure. Star wide receiver Terry McLaurin suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon in Week 7. Jayden Daniels has performed well since returning from an elbow dislocation. He has not recorded a victory as a starter since Week 5 of 2025. Since that date, Daniels has missed ten games and gone 0-7-1 in starts.

The statistical profiles suggest a collision of struggling units. The Eagles rank 29th in points per game and 32nd in yards per play. The Commanders allow 31st in points per game and 22nd in yards per play. Washington lacks interior defensive linemen Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw. Payne suffered an injury on Friday. This absence gives the Eagles offense a potential path to build on their Week 7 performance against the Cowboys.

Washington has a difficult history under the lights. The team has lost six consecutive primetime games. Only the Indianapolis Colts possess a longer active losing streak in such contests. Daniels threw for 199 yards and ran for 103 yards with two scores in a 27-27 tie against the Giants. He followed that with a 300-yard passing game against the 49ers. With McLaurin gone, the passing game will likely rely on Stefon Diggs, Chig Okonkwo, and Antonio Williams.

The Eagles won the first meeting between these rivals, 24-22, in Week 1. That team, however, was healthier and featured Hurts at the helm. The Eagles defense performed well in that first contest. It struggled in Week 7 against the Cowboys but retains enough talent to improve. The Commanders are favored by six points according to DraftKings odds.

The game offers a chance for both coaches to reset their rosters. The Eagles offense, led by Tanner McKee, has shown progress recently. The Commanders defense relies on blitzing to generate pressure. This tactic could target an undermanned Philadelphia offensive line. The outcome will determine whether either team can claim momentum before the end of the season.
