Stephen Curry finished with 44 points and eight rebounds as the Golden State Warriors defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 119-114 on Wednesday night in Minneapolis. The win marked the second straight victory for Golden State, which had lost its first three games of the season.

The Warriors built their lead early. They closed the first quarter on a 21-9 run to take a 30-23 lead. De'Anthony Melton hit two 3-pointers, and Yaxel Lendeborg added a driving layup and a 3-pointer during that stretch. Lendeborg finished with 26 points for Golden State.

Golden State extended its advantage to a double-digit lead before halftime. Lendeborg hit a 3-pointer, and Will Richard and Curry each made two free throws as the Warriors scored seven of the last nine points of the first half. They entered the break ahead 64-48.

The lead swelled to 24 points in the second half. Curry completed a three-point play to make the score 78-54. Minnesota responded with a 27-15 run to close the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 12 points at 93-81. Bones Hyland came off the bench and hit two 3-pointers during that run.

The Timberwolves outscored Golden State 66-55 over the second half but fell short in the final minutes. Jonathan Kuminga, playing against his former team, led Minnesota with 20 points. Jaden McDaniels and Terrence Shannon Jr. each scored 19, and Ayo Dosunmu added 17. Minnesota, which started the season 3-0, has now lost two games in a row.

Curry secured the win in the closing seconds. After Hyland's bank shot cut the margin to three points, Curry made two free throws. Brandon Williams contributed 11 points off the bench for Golden State.

Elsewhere in the NBA, the Philadelphia 76ers beat the Indiana Pacers 114-109 in Indianapolis. Tyrese Maxey scored 27 points, and Anfernee Simons added 20 off the bench. The 76ers scored 26 of the first 34 points of the fourth quarter to overcome an 88-75 deficit. Joel Embiid recorded 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Jaylen Brown had 20 points and 10 rebounds. LeBron James contributed 13 points and 10 assists. Pascal Siakam scored 26 for Indiana, and Andrew Nembhard had 18 points and 14 assists.
